Skin Care
Why Skin Care and Chiropractic?
As patients soon learn when they come into the SLO Wellness Center, we believe the best way to achieve health is proactive care. Our skin is the first line of defense and support for an optimally functioning system and must be cared for regularly. Tones skin studio, inside SLO Wellness Center, provides a calming and nurturing way to maintain healthy, hydrated and glowing skin.
Estheticians in San Luis Obispo
Estheticians can't diagnose skin conditions, prescribe medications, or suggest treatment for any skin condition outside of cosmetic products. However, skin care is incredibly important to overall body health. Our esthetician performs treatment complementary to a doctor's treatment. Some estheticians may work closely with dermatologists, either in-office or through a referral system.
What an Esthetician Can Do for Your Skin
- Give facial treatments, which may include deep cleansing, exfoliation, and facial massage.
- Extract, or cleanse out, non-inflamed pore blockages and blackheads.
- Advise on the proper care of your skin.
- Recommend appropriate skin care products for your skin type, including over-the-counter acne treatments. They will typically have these products available for you to buy and take home on the day of your service.
- Perform certain specialty treatments, like microdermabrasion and light chemical peels (in most states).
Your Skin Care Professional
Estheticians, or Skin Therapists are trained and licensed in the cosmetic treatment of the skin. All estheticians in California must be licensed and complete 600 hours of training and pass both a written and and a practical exam.
They perform various procedures including facials, body treatments and waxing. A facial treatment includes deep cleansing, exfoliation and facial massage, extraction of non-inflamed pore blockages and blackheads, advise on the proper care of your skin, and recommendations of the appropriate skin care products for your skin condition.
